  Dit is de Duitstalige Oostenrijkse uitgaven van "Putzgers Historischer Schul-Atlas". Deze 32e druk uit 1910 is volgens de titelpagina een ongewijzigde herdruk van de 19e druk (1897) en de 22e druk (1900). De kaarten zijn grotendeels dezelfde als die in de 24e druk (1900) van de uitgave voor Duitsland.
• Van deze Oostenrijkse uitgave zijn andere uitgaven afgeleid voor delen van Oostenrijk-Hongarije waar het Duits niet de voertaal was.

Band

De atlas heeft een kartonnen band beplakt met donkerbruin linnen. De afmetingen zijn  17,5 × 26,5 cm (B × H).  Op de voorkant staan de titel "F.W. Putzgers Historischer Schulatlas" en de naam van de uitgever. Op de rug staat alleen de titel. Op de achterkant is, nauwelijks zichtbaar, de tekst "Buchbinderei Karl Prochaska Teschen" gepreegd, dus naam en plaats van de boekbinder – Teschen is de Duitse naam van het huidige Český Těšín in Tsjechië.

Inhoud

De atlas heeft een titelpagina met op de achterkant de namen van de drukkerijen (in Leipzig, Duitsland) van het tekstdeel en van het kaartendeel. Daarna komen twee bladzijden met de inhoudsopgave en zeven bladzijden met toelichting bij de kaarten. Op de eerste bladzijde van de toelichting is een noot waarin de redacteuren en de gebruikte bronnen worden genoemd.

Het kaartendeel bevat 31 kaartbladen met, volgens de titelpagina, 52 hoofdkaarten en 61 bijkaarten. Sommige bladen zijn zo ingebonden dat ze met twee tegelijk uit te vouwen zijn, waardoor een 'dubbel' kaartblad ontstaat. De kaartbladen bevatten een of meer hoofdkaarten en meestal veel bijkaarten. De atlas begint met 12 kaartbladen over de Oudheid. Daarna komen 19 bladen met kaarten over de Middeleeuwen en de Nieuwe Tijd, waaronder 1 kaart specifiek over de geschiedenis van Oostenrijk.

De kaarten zijn vervaardigd in lithografie en afgedrukt in zinkdruk. Hierdoor was kleurendruk vrij eenvoudig te realiseren en kon in grote oplagen worden gedrukt. Er is gebruik gemaakt van vlakkleur en randkleur om de staatkundige indeling aan te geven. In de bovenmarge staan nummer en naam van de kaart.

Vergelijking met de Duits uitgave

Deze Oostenrijkse uitgave uit 1910 van de atlas is een ongewijzigde herdruk van de edities rond 1900. Daarom is hij hier vergeleken met de Duitse 24e druk uit 1900. Daarbij zijn de volgende overeenkomsten en verschillen te constateren.

• De meeste kaarten in deze Oostenrijkse uitgave komen ook voor in de Duitse uitgave, soms met kleine verschillen zoals andere bijkaarten. Dat is ook wel te begrijpen omdat Oostenrijk lange tijd deel uitmaakte van het Duitse Rijk.
• De kaarten van het Europese deel van het Romeinse Rijk (Nº 12) en van Duitsland en Italië in de 19e eeuw (Nº 28) zijn echt anders dan die in de Duitse uitgave. Het 'Italiaanse deel' van Nº 28 staat op een andere kaart in de Duitse uitgave.
• De kaart over de geschiedenis van Oostenrijk-Hongarije (Nº 29) komt niet voor in de Duitse uitgave.
• De kaarten in de Duitse uitgave van delen van Duitsland, zoals Pruisen en Beieren, komen niet voor in de Oostenrijkse uitgave.

    This is the German language Austrian version of "Putzgers Historischer Schul-Atlas". According to the title page this 32nd edition from 1910 is an unaltered reprint of the 19th edition (1897) and the 22nd edition (1900). The maps are mostly the same as those in the 24th edition (1900) of the version for Germany.

  • No versions seem to have appeared in other languages of Austria-Hungary, such as Hungarian, Ukrainian or Romanian.
• Binding
  • The atlas has a cardboard binding pasted with cloth. Its dimensions are  17.5 × 26.5 cm (W × H).  On the front cover are the title "F.W. Putzgers Historischer Schulatlas" and the name of the publisher. On the spine only the title is mentioned. On the back cover is embossed, hardly visibly, the text "Buchbinderei Karl Prochaska Teschen", name and place of the bookbinder – Teschen is the German name of the actual Český Těšín in the Czech Republic.
• Contents
  • The atlas has a title page with on its verso the names of the printers (in Leipzig, Germany) of the text and map sections. Thereafter are two pages with the table of contents and seven pages of explanatory text. On the first explanation page is a note mentioning the editors and the sources used.
  • The map section contains 31 maps sheets with, according to the title page, 52 main maps and 61 inset maps. Some sheets are bound in such a way that two of them can be folded out next to each other, in fact forming a 'double' sheet. Each sheet contains one or more main maps and usually several inset maps. Details can be found in the list of maps, inset maps and scale.
  • The atlas begins with 12 map sheets on the Ancient world. Thereafter are 19 sheets on the Middle Ages and modern history, among which one sheet specifically on the history of Austria.
  • The maps have been produced in lithography and printed in zincography. This allowed for an easy color printing process in high volume. Area or outline color is used to indicate the political subdivision. In the upper margin the map name and number are given.
• In comparison with the German version
  • This Austrian version from 1910 of the atlas is an unaltered reprint of the editions around 1900. Therefore it is compared with the German 24th edition from 1900. The following similarities and differences can be noted.
    • Most maps in this Austrian version also appear in the German version, sometimes with minor differences such as other inset maps; understandable because Austria was part of the German Empire for a long time.
    • The maps of the European part of the Roman Empire (Nº 12) and the map of Germany and Italy in the 19th century (Nº 28) are different from those in the German edition. The 'Italian part' of Nº 28 is on another map in the German version.
    • The map on the history of Austria-Hungary (Nº 29) does not appear in the German version.
    • The maps in the German version of parts of Germany, such as Prussia and Bavaria, are not present in the Austrian version.
