  Dit is de 11e druk van de volledige uitgave van de Deutsche Schulatlas. Deze uitgave bevat 48 bladzijden met kaarten. Tot 1913 was er ook een beknopte uitgave met maar 33 kaarten leverbaar.
• Op de titelpagina staat als jaar van uitgave 1923 vermeld. In dit exemplaar staat op de titelpagina en de legenda ook de drukcode  192. V/24. 4500,  dus deze pagina's zijn gedrukt in mei 1924 (in 4500 exemplaren).
• Richard Lüddecke is overleden in 1898 maar zijn naam is aan de atlas verbonden gebleven. De atlas is verder bewerkt door Hermann Haack.
• Kaarten uit deze atlas zijn, meestal in verkleinde vorm, ook gebruikt in Haack, Kleinster Schulatlas.
• Veel kaarten uit deze atlas zijn later gebruikt in de Thüringer Schulatlas (1926-1937) van Hermann Haack.

Band

De atlas heeft een blauwe kartonnen band  (26 × 30 cm, B × H)  met linnen rug. Op de voorkant daarvan staan de titel, de namen van de auteurs en de uitgever. De achterkant is leeg.

Inhoud

Op het schutblad voorin staat de legenda van de kaarten. Daarna komen de titelpagina en de inhoudsopgave. Vervolgens zijn er de 48 bladzijden met kaarten, dubbelzijdig bedrukt en soms met een kaart op twee bladzijden: zie de inhoudsopgave. Er is geen register.

De atlas begint met 3 bladzijden 'algemene' kaarten: kaartschalen en voorstelling van bergen, markante landschappen. Daarna zijn er 10 bladzijden met kaarten van Duitsland, Zwitserland en de Alpen. Vervolgens komen 12 bladzijden met kaarten van de Europese landen. Daarna komen in 16 bladzijden de werelddelen aan de orde. Tenslotte zijn er 6 bladzijden met, vooral thematische, kaarten van de wereld, en als laatste is er een kaart met de Aarde als hemellichaam.

De kaarten zijn vervaardigd in kleurenlithografie. De kaarten van de landen van Europa zijn meestal 'natuurkundig' gekleurd: hoogtekleuring met arcering voor bergen. Enkele kaarten (Duitsland en deelkaarten) hebben een staatkundige kleuring. Van de overzichtskaarten van de werelddelen is er zowel een natuurkundige als een staatkundige versie. De deelkaarten van de werelddelen zijn meestal natuurkundig gekleurd. Er is gebruik gemaakt van een beperkt aantal schalen – zie de lijst van kaarten, bijkaarten en schaal.

Op de kaarten staat bovenaan links steeds "Deutscher Schulatlas" en rechts het bladnummer – twee nummers als de kaart twee bladzijden beslaat. Onderaan de kaarten staan een schaalstok, de tekst "Gotha: Justus Perthes" en de schaal.

Vergelijking met eerdere uitgaven

Vergeleken met de uitgaven van vóór de eerste wereldoorlog – hier in het bijzonder de 7e druk – zijn de volgende veranderingen te constateren.

• Het aantal kaarten is afgenomen van 51 tot 48 doordat de kaarten van de Duitse koloniën zijn vervallen.
• De staatkundige veranderingen als gevolg van de eerste wereldoorlog zijn in de atlas verwerkt. In het bijzonder heeft de oorspronkelijke kaart van Oostenrijk-Hongarije nu de titel Donaulanden.
• De kaart van het klimaat op de wereld, oorspronkelijk nummer 50, is samengevoegd met die van Australië (nummer 40/41).

    This is the 11th edition of the comprehensive version of the Deutsche Schulatlas. This edition contains 48 map pages. Until 1913 a concise version with only 33 maps was also available.
  • On the title page the year 1923 is mentioned. On the title page, and the key to map symbols, the code  192. V/24. 4500  is printed in this copy, so these pages were printed in May 1924 (in 4500 copies).
  • Richard Lüddecke died in 1898 but he remains to be mentioned as the first author. The actual editing was done by Hermann Haack.
  • Reduced versions of maps from this atlas have been used in Haack, Kleinster Schulatlas.
  • Many maps from this atlas were also used for the Thüringer Schulatlas (1926-1937) by Hermann Haack.
• Binding
  • The atlas has a blue cardboard binding  (26 × 30 cm, W × H)  with a cloth spine. On the front cover are the title, the names of the authors and the name of the publisher. The back cover contains no text.
• Contents
  • The front endpaper contains the key to map symbols. Thereafter are the title page and the table of contents. Next are the 48 map pages, printed on both sides with sometimes a double page map: see the table of contents. There is no index.
  • First in the atlas are 3 pages with maps on 'general subjects': map scales and representation of mountains, prominent surface shapes. Thereafter are 10 pages of maps of Germany, Switzerland and the Alps. Next are 12 map pages for the European countries, followed by 16 pages for the continents. In the end are 6 pages with maps of the world, mostly thematic, and a map of the earth as an astronomical object.
  • The maps have been produced in color lithography. The maps of the European countries are mainly colored 'physically': elevation colors with hachuring for mountains. Some maps (Germany and regional maps) have a political coloring. The general maps of the continents are given in both physical and political versions. The regional maps are mostly colored physically. Only a few different scales have been used – see the list of maps, inset maps and scale.
  • In the upper margin is on the left the text "Deutscher Schulatlas" and on the right the sheet number – two numbers for a double page map. In the bottom margin are a linear scale, the text "Gotha: Justus Perthes" and the scale.
• In comparison with earlier editions
  • Compared with the pre-WWI editions – here the 7th edition in particular – the following changes can be observed.
    • The number of maps has decreased from 51 to 48 because the maps of the German colonies have been dropped.
    • The world climate map, originally number 50, was joined with the map of Australia (number (40/41)
    • The political changes after the World War I have been incorporated in the maps. In particular the map of Austria-Hungary is now entitled Danube countries.
