  Dit is de uitgave uit 1937 van de Thüringer Schulatlas – op de kaarten zelf staat steeds 'Thüringer Heimatatlas'. De hoofdredacteur was Hermann Haack (1872-1966). Andere medewerkers worden niet genoemd.
• Een uitgever wordt niet vermeld maar op bijna alle kaarten staat onderaan de naam van uitgeverij Justus Perthes in Gotha, waar Hermann Haack ook werkzaam was.
• Deze schoolatlas voor de Duitse deelstaat Thüringen. is in feite de voortzetting van de Deutsche Schulatlas met als auteurs Richard Lüddecke (1859-1898) en Hermann Haack.

Band

De atlas heeft een bruine kartonnen band  (30 × 27 cm, H × B)  met een blauwe linnen rug. Op de voorkant staat de titel 'Thüringer Schulatlas' en (in zwart-wit) het wapen dat de deelstaat Thüringen gebruikte in de periode 1933-1945. Op een blauwe achtergrond staat daarin de 'Hessische leeuw' – symbool van de landgraven van Thüringen – met een hakenkruis in de rechter voorpoot.

Inhoud

De atlas heeft een titelpagina en een bladzijde met de inhoudsopgave. Daarna komen 32 bladzijden met kaarten in kleur, dubbelzijdig bedrukt en soms met een kaart op twee bladzijden: zie de inhoudsopgave. Aan het einde zijn er een bladzijde met verklaring van tekens en gebruikte afkortingen en een bladzijde over sterrenkunde.

Het kaartendeel begint met een kaart over landschappen en nederzettingen. Daarna komen 14 bladzijden met kaarten van Duitsland en de Alpen waaronder 3 thematische kaarten van Thüringen en 2 van Midden-Europa. Vervolgens zijn er 8 bladzijden voor Europa en 5 voor de overige werelddelen. Daarna zijn er 3 thematische kaarten van de wereld, en tenslotte een over de geschiedenis van Thüringen.

De kaarten zijn vervaardigd in kleurenlithografie. De 'algemene' kaarten zijn meestal 'natuurkundig' gekleurd: hoogtekleuring met arcering voor bergen. Er is gebruik gemaakt van een beperkt aantal schalen – zie de lijst van kaarten, bijkaarten en schaal – waardoor de kaarten goed met elkaar vergelijkbaar zijn.

Op de kaarten staat bovenaan links steeds "Thüringer Heimatatlas" (dus niet "Thüringer Schulatlas") en rechts het bladnummer – twee nummers als de kaart twee bladzijden beslaat. Onderaan de kaarten staan een schaalstok, de tekst "Gotha: Justus Perthes" en de schaal.

Vergelijking met de uitgave uit 1935

Deze uitgave uit 1937 lijkt een grotendeels ongewijzigde herdruk van die uit 1935. De enige duidelijke verandering is de voorkant van de band, waarop in 1935 alleen de titel 'Thüringer Schulatlas' stond, en nu dezelfde tekst als op de titelpagina. De kaarten zijn bijgewerkt, zoals bijvoorbeeld te zien is op de kaart van Arfika: de Italiaanse bezetting van Ethiopië en de gewijzigde zuidgrens van Libië.

    This is the 1937 edition of the Thüringer Schulatlas – on the maps always 'Thüringer Heimatatlas'. Editor in chief was Hermann Haack (1872-1966). No other contributors are mentioned.
  • A publisher is not mentioned but in the lower margin of almost all maps the name of Justus Perthes in Gotha is printed, the publishing company for which Hermann Haack was working.
  • This school atlas for the German state of Thuringia is actually a continuation of the Deutsche Schulatlas by Richard Lüddecke (1859-1898) and Hermann Haack.
• Binding
  • The atlas has a brown cardboard binding  (30 × 27 cm, H × W)  with a blue cloth spine. On the front cover is the title 'Thüringer Schulatlas' and (in black and white) the coat of arms of the state of Thuringia in the 1933-1945 period. On a blue background it contains the 'Hessian lion' – symbol of the landgraves of Thuringia – with a swastika in its right paw.
• Contents
  • The atlas has a title page and a page with the table of contents. Thereafter are 32 pages with colored maps, printed on both sides, with sometimes a double page map: see the table of contents. In the back are a page with conventional signs and abbreviations used, and one on astronomy.
  • The map section starts with a map on landscapes and settlements. Thereafter are 14 pages for Germany and the Alps, among which 3 thematic maps of Thuringia and 2 of Central Europe. Next are 8 pages for Europe and 5 for the other continents. Thereafter are 3 pages of thematic world maps and in the end is a map on the history of Thuringia.
  • The maps have been produced in color lithography. The 'general' maps are mainly colored 'physically': elevation colors with hachuring for mountains. Only a few different scales have been used – see the list of maps, inset maps and scale – which makes the maps easily comparable.
  • In the upper margin is on the left the text "Thüringer Heimatatlas" (not "Thüringer Schulatlas") and on the right the sheet number – two numbers for a double page map. In the bottom margin are a linear scale, the text "Gotha: Justus Perthes" and the scale.
• In comparison with the 1935 edition
  • This 1937 edition seems to be a mostly unaltered reprint of the 1935 edition. The only obvious modification is the front cover, where in 1935 only the title 'Thüringer Schulatlas' was mentioned, and now the entire text of the title page. The maps have been updated, as can be observed for example on the Africa map: the Italian occupation of Ethiopia and the altered southern border of Libya.
